“M” Mark event - HKGX 2025 IBF World Championship to be hosted in Hong Kong with an unprecedented ‘arena setting’ for the Trios and Team of Five semi-finals and finals at Queen Elizabeth Stadium.
The IBF World Championships 2025 will take place in Hong Kong from November 24 to December 5, marking a major milestone for the sport of bowling in Asia. Hosted at the newly opened Top Bowl at Kai Tak Sports Park, the event will culminate in a spectacular arena-style setting for the Trios and Team of Five semi-finals and finals at Queen Elizabeth Stadium on December 4–5.
Designated as an “M” Mark event, the championship is recognized for its prestige and contribution to Hong Kong’s reputation as a hub for international sports. The event is proudly sponsored by the Hong Kong Gold Exchange (HKGX), with additional support from the Hong Kong Jockey Club as the Official Community Partner.
A total of 300 athletes from 31 countries and regions will compete across five categories: Singles, Doubles, Trios, Team of Five, and All Events. The competition features 28 men’s teams and 22 women’s teams, each comprising six athletes, alongside 120 team officials.
The Hong Kong, China team includes standout athletes such as Wu Siu Hong, Tony Wong, Ivan Tse, Keith Mark, James Lui, and Jovi Ma. The team boasts recent successes, including bronze medals at the 2024 Asian Championships and gold in the Men’s Trios at the 2023 IBF World Championships in Kuwait.
In conjunction with the championship, a series of community programmes will be held, including:
- Bowling experience sessions for underprivileged and differently-abled youth
- Guided tours, volunteer training, and university internships
- Sports and cultural exhibitions at Olympian City 2
- A Charity Bowling Tournament on November 8 supporting AIDS Concern
Spectators attending the finals at Queen Elizabeth Stadium will enjoy free entry, with online registration available on a first-come, first-served basis. Attendees will receive a commemorative folding umbrella featuring the event logo.
The semi-finals and finals of the Trios and Team of Five events will be broadcast on delay by TVB, bringing the excitement to a wider audience.
