Paradise Island Bowl in Neville Island, just north of Pittsburgh, PA is a go-to destination for families, friends, and bowling enthusiasts with 24 lanes of upscale bowling with a state-of-the-art scoring system. Situated on the banks of the Ohio River, guests can arrive via boat on their private dock and enjoy bowling, an arcade, axe throwing, and a seasonal beach with sand volleyball, live music, and beach karaoke.
We caught up with Bowling Operations Manager, Tim Pfeifer, who shared how the BES NV Extend Your Play feature is helping drive additional revenue by keeping guests bowling longer, as well as supporting staff, making for a better guest experience.
Overall, how has the Extend Your Play (EYP) feature made a difference in your center?
“Extend Your Play frees up guest service staff for other tasks and allows the customer to make their own decisions on extending their time to bowl without having to ask. This leads to more extensions and better lane usage percentages.
“Extend Your Play has also made it easier for us to manage the gaps between reservations.”
Over the last 90 days, Paradise Island Bowl has fully offset the cost of its BES NV subscription through Extend Your Play revenue.
With Extend Your Play, Paradise Island Bowl recently processed more than $500 in seven days.
Has Extend your Play had any effect on your staff?
“It has allowed staff to better serve the guests. It really reduces commotion around the front desk during busy times, so things just feel more under control.”
What has been the feedback from customers?
“Folks seem to love the self-service aspect of Extend Your Play and how it only prompts them to extend an available amount of time. So often, we have people asking if they can add an hour when it's just not possible, and Extend your Play allows them to make better decisions with their time.”
About Extend Your Play
Extend Your Play is a feature within the BES NV scoring system that drives an automatic prompt allowing guests to extend their pre-assigned bowling session either before it ends or immediately afterward. This ensures a smooth and uninterrupted gameplay experience and makes it easier for them to stay longer and bowl that extra game—while spending more, too.
How it Works:
Extend Your Play is available for both Time Bowling and Game Bowling. Bowlers will receive a warning notification that alerts them to the time or number of frames left and offers the opportunity for them to extend their session:
For Time Bowling
The notification will appear 30, 15, and 5 minutes before the session ends.
For Game Bowling
The notification will be shown 10 and 5 frames before the session concludes.
For centers that have SuperTouch consoles and Square POS, guests can conveniently make payments to extend their session directly from their mobile device, by scanning a QR code displayed on the SuperTouch screen.
They will then be directed to a Square webpage, where they can complete payment for their extended play. Once the payment is completed, this screen will close, and the timer/counter will be updated automatically, all without the need for interaction from staff.
